Pure and Impure Thoughts
Purity is a measure of worth, truth, holiness, or homogeneity. It is sometimes a state of preparation and sometimes an end in itself. It is sought, and it is enforced.
This seminar explores theological, sexual, political, and social meanings of purity and impurity across religious traditions and writing genres—particularly as they relate to gay/queer/trans lives and loves.
The vibe is informal, exploratory, and engaged. Readings will vary in length and difficulty.
